Regulatory Framework AS/NZS 2845 & AS/NZS 3500

What is backflow?

The unintended reversal of water flow through a plumbing system allowing contaminated water to enter the public supply network.

Who must comply?

Commercial & industrial properties, strata & multi-unit buildings, government facilities, healthcare, and any property with a registered testable device.

Testing frequency?

Most registered devices require annual testing under AS/NZS 2845. Plumbing installations must comply with AS/NZS 3500. High-hazard classifications may require more frequent testing intervals.

Consequences of non-compliance?

Financial penalties, legal liability, water supply disconnection, and insurance difficulties. State authorities actively enforce these requirements.

framework we operate within.
